Field Hockey reports from last three games.

Field Hockey continues to have a successful season as we go through our schedule. The last three games have all been successful wins, shutting out our opponents in all but 1 game, which was in our latest game against Mizzentop. Away at Rumsey the team pulled ahead to a 3-0 lead in the first half. During the second half things looked as though they might get grim when our Center Forward Elizabeth Quarteraro and Sweeper Maggie Dull both came out due to injuries, leaving no substitutes and taking away two very valuable players. The team pulled through and kept the ball away from our goal and into our offensive half of the field. Charlotte Allen did a terrific job covering for Maggie in the backfield and Denny Smythe was crucial in keeping the ball up the field with her powerful free hits. Danielle O'Callaghan and Claudia Lamprecht did a great job in some of their first action as forwards and the game ended as a 5-0 win.

The team continued to do well in their action at home when they played Maplebrook, shutting them out by a score of 16-0. Eight different players scored with almost every player getting some action in the circle assisting or scoring. Hanna Carlin got some of her first action of the season, when she was taken out of the goalie position and came in as a forward, knocking in her first goal of the season for Dutchess. Seventh grader Aleksa Lambert had a great performance for her first game of the season and only third day playing the game and put in a goal of her own. The team looked exceptionally great against Maplebrook, supporting their teammates with passing lanes and support. Most of the goals were assisted and all were a team effort in bringing the ball up the field and into the circle. The defense led by Maggie Dull and Denny Smythe was supported greatly by Jessica O'Callaghan to keep the ball out of our defensive penalty circle for the entirety of the game. Dutchess had few penalties called against them and played smart and effective field hockey throughout the game.

In our last game away against Mizzentop, Dutchess seemed to be getting their first test of the season when we were scored upon in the first half to bring the score to 2-1. A strong midfield led by Sophie Perekslis, Hadley Stack and Charlotte Allen helped to keep the ball in our offensive half of the field for a large percentage of the rest of the game. Maggie Dull proved to be unbreakable once again, never letting the opponent get by her with the ball. Denny Smythe had great hits keeping the ball to the outside providing Hadley Stack and the forwards with great opportunities to bring the ball up the field. Ellery Smith saw some of her first action in the goalie position. Two Mizzentop forwards broke away into the circle with the ball when Smith charged out of goal and made a perfect clear putting the ball back into Dutchess possession. Dutchess continues to play great team field hockey. Forwards Zoe Ettinger and Hailey Conger were making great runs in and out of the penalty circle for their teammates to pass onto and get the ball up the field. Sophie Perekslis played exceptionally well having to adjust to not having her partner in crime up the middle Elizabeth Quarteraro, and knocked in most of the Dutchess goals. Dutchess went on to win the game 5-1.
