Match Report for Varsity Soccer v Trinity Pawling on Friday September 26th, 2008

Although the scoreline of Trinity Pawling 5 DDS 0 reflected the relevant strengths of the two teams, it would be fair to say that the DDS team lead by Chris Marzullo and Alexa Colangelo did very well, particularly in their defensive efforts. All three of our goalkeepers, Danielle, Matt and Alex made vital saves and distributed the ball well. Ellie, Isabel and Eddie worked hard in midfield and gamely attempted to to get the ball forward. Although we had a few chances up front, the Trinity Pawling played very solid in defense and made it very difficult for our forwards to settle on the ball. Again, altghough we clearly played better than in our first game, we need to get width in our game and more movement off the ball. A fine effort overall!

Varsity Soccer report v Mizzentop on Wednesday September 24th, 2008

In a very even contest, DDS could not hold on to their 2-1 lead and succumbed to a second long range goal to end the game in a 2-2 tie. We started the game brightly but found it difficult to get shots in on the Mizzentop goal. A stunning long range strike put Mizzentop one up, although this lead was soon cancelled out by Roan who somehow managed to squeeze a well taken corner in at the near post of the Mizzentop goal. In the DDS goal, Danielle was performing solidly and her kicking was outstanding. In defense throughout the whole game we played with energy and determination. Chris, Alexa and Jon were very solid indeed. Newcomers Paige, Sawyer and Nick played their part too. In midfield, while Ellie and Isabel in particular battled gamely, it was 6th graders Andrew and Sean who demonstrated that passing ability is key to maintaining possesion. It was Alex, playing a solid game throughout, who put pressure on the Mizzentop defense, winning the ball and deftly passing it to the unmarked Danielle who coolly slotted home from close range. Now in goal, Matt pulled off an excellent save to deny Mizzentop the win. As a starting match, things went well but we will need to improve our passing skills and learn to use space more effectively if we are to have a really successful season.

Field Hockey v Mizzentop - Monday Sept 22nd, 2008

Field Hockey beat Mizzentop on Monday in their first game of the season by a score of 2-0. The team looked great in their home opener. Sophie Perekslis and Elizabeth Quarteraro put shots in for DDS in the second quarter, making the score 2-0 where it stayed for the remainder of the game. All players kept up the intensity throughout the game and DDS kept the ball in their offensive half of the field for most of the game, limiting Mizzentop to only two penalty corners throughout all four quarters. The youngest members of the team, the fifth graders Ellery Smith, Claudia Lamprecht and Danielle O'Callaghan all performed well and made great contributions in their first game playing field hockey. Welcome Back - Fall Sports 2008

Hi everyone. The new fall season starts on Monday September 8th immediately after school. We have soccer, field hockey and cross-country on offer again and hopefully we will manage to fit in one or two swim meets again!
In soccer, Mr Pink and Mr. Cissel will be putting the varsity team through their paces with the JV team once more in the capable hands of Coach "R" and Mrs Ackers. We have a new field hockey coach this year in the form of Ms D Fedele. The name should sound familiar to you as her mum is Mrs Fedele who is of course, Mr Cissel's assistant! We also welcome back the ever enthusiastic Coach Krys as our marathon running cross-country team coach. Coach Krys is keen to get going having just got off the plane from visiting his Polish homeland! All the coaches, I know, are looking forward to a fun and fulfilling season.See you out there on Monday afternoon!!
