Varsity Soccer v Washington Montessori School on Thursday October 11th.

Playing their second game in two days, the Varsity Soccer team continued to play good passing soccer to ramp up another victory, this time by the margin of 3-1. Visitors, Washington Montessori, fielded a strong team and began the game pressing our defense hard. It was not until twenty minutes later that we started to string our passes together and begin to threaten the opposition goal. Kayleigh was again causing chaos down the right touchline and it was inevitable that she would find the net on one of her forays in to the opposing area. Well served by Hudson and Griffin, she netted twice to bring her tally to four goals in two games. On the other wing Adrienne and then Caleb ably supported our attacking play. After half time, we continued to trouble the Washington M. defense and soon Sebastian turned and rifled in to the net a well struck shot. Our defense once more led superbly by Roan continued to keep at bay the lively Washington forwards. However, the player of the game was undoubtedly Danielle, who in goal played with confidence, skill and sheer bravery. Handling everything that came her way, she made a number of daring saves at the feet of the oncoming forwards. However, one such save was rewarded by an injury to her face, and she had to retire. Thankfully, she is fine and will be starring in our games next week. Matt took over in goal and played very well immediately coming out to prevent a shot on goal. Unfortunately a few moments later a great shot thundered past him into the roof of the net. Overall, a very pleasing performance from every player in the team. Next game is at home to Melrose on Monday October 15th.
