Athletic Trainer Now Available to Dutchess Day School!

Concerned about an injury? Not sure what you should or shouldn’t do? Many acute injuries (even minor!) can turn into chronic conditions, affecting quality of life and ability to compete. What do you want to have longer…your injuries or your trophies?

Millbrook Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy (M.O.S.T.) offers a complimentary healthcare service to the student athletes, parents, and coaches of the Dutchess Day School. This program was initiated in the fall of 2006, and has been very successful in helping our student athletes receive efficient, effective care for their injuries. A certified athletic trainer (ATC) visits weekly on Thursdays from 4:00–5:15 to meet with any students or staff that wish to have an injury evaluated, who have questions regarding health and wellness, or who desire consultation on strength and conditioning.

In addition to the weekly school visits, an athletic trainer or physical therapist is available to parents and coaches from 8:30am -5:30 pm Monday-Friday (most weeks) to discuss an athlete’s injury, as well as schedule an injury evaluation if needed at one of our clinics free of charge! Just call (845) 677-8045 or (845) 677-5021!

Coordinating this school outreach program and making the weekly visitations is Mr. Ryan Stevens, ATC, CSCS. Ryan is a certified athletic trainer, as well as a certified strength and conditioning specialist. He graduated from Penn State University in 2003 with a degree in athletic training, and since then has gained excellent experience working as an athletic trainer at Syracuse University, West Genesee High School, SUNY New Paltz, and now Millbrook Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy. Additionally, Ryan has been an athletic training intern with both the Chicago Bears and the Harrisburg Senators Minor League Baseball Club.
