Another Win For DDS

I am pleased that the team is doing very well... Every player is doing very well and they are all running the offense perfectly. They are also hustling for the loose balls as well as playing intense defense. They are doing great! Sean G. led the DDS team with 22 points wich includes six 3 pointers. Daniel also added 8 points for us which is now her second best game of the season. Matt scored 4 points, Jackson, Ben and Christian added 2 points each. Way to go once again!!!!

JV Volleyball report v Rumsey School played on Thursday January 22nd, 2008

The JV Volleyball team played their 2nd match against Rumsey on Thursday, 1/22 at Dutchess Day School. The team played a very strong the first game. Hannah and Hailey led the team with 5 and 7 points respectively. Ben had a strong game on defense. The second game didn't go as well. We ended up in a serving slump and lost the game 19-25. The match ended in a tie. We appreciated playing on our home court and having so many parents and teachers there to cheer us on! Thanks also to the varsity who kept score and lines for us.

JV Volleyball report for game v Rumsey on Thursday January 15th, 2009

The JV Volleyball team had their first game on Thursday, 1/15/09 against Rumsey Hall. They walked away victorious. The team consists of Ben, Jason and Alexander in 5th grade; Hailey, Erica and Hannah in 6th grade; and Maddie in 7th grade. The serving started off a little slow after the hour-long bus ride, but then they came to life and outscored Rumsey 25-14 and 25-20. We are hoping to have some fans cheer us on during our first home game which is currently being rescheduled. You can also catch us on Feb. 18th & 25th at DDS. Go Tigers!

Short Report

Once more the intrepid DDS Squash team ventured out in to the tough world of prep school squash. Although the result was a clear one in favor of Trinity Pawling School, our fast improving team played some excellent squash, losing many games by very narrow margins. For our new 5th graders, it was mainly a learning experience up against much older and larger opposition. However, I will guarantee in the next few years their time will come! David also put up a decent fight but was always up against it. Our first seven players, however, performed very well indeed. Izzy, Denny and Hadley won their games in fine style, but if you look at the results, the others were so close in a number of games. Alex, Hanna, Lizzy and Andrew had it in them to beat their opponents and were very disappointed to narrowly lose out! All in all, this was a great match and one that we hope to repeat before the end of the season!

Change in Volleyball Schedule

Next Wednesday's (Jan 21st) JV volleyball game at home to Rumsey, has been postponed and will now be played at a later date T.B.A. The JV game on Feb 25th is also subject to change of date. These changes will be made public as soon as our opponents Rumsey let us know.

Varsity Basketball v Kildonan School played on Monday January 12th, 2008

The two teams were evenly matched but we finally loosened up, moved the ball around nicely and were more patient executing baskets. Our 2-3 defense was once again great. I am pleased with how the team played, again down two players from our roster. Unfortunantly we will be missing Kai Stroud for the rest of the season due to a broken wrist accident during ski Friday.
We are currently on a two game winning streak and we are now getting comfortable playing with each other and it shows. The first game we scored 20 as a team, the second game we scored 22 as a team.....this game we had 20 in the first half. Yes, we are improving and I am happy and proud of the team's play. Danielle Stamer and Sean Gorwana contributed 11 points each, which was the most Danielle has ever scored!.... she told me after the game. Roan Gideon added 5 points, Jackson Ryan added 4 points, Christian Marzullo, Ben Poholchuk, TJ Sayah, Sebastian Barry all had 2 points. Jon Hill was the only player that did not score but he made some great hustle plays down the strech to help his team. GREAT JOB TEAM!!!!

Varsity Basketball game v Melrose on Thursday Jan 8th, 2008

I did not know what to expect after the long vacation. With the students not practicing and after a long break, forgetting plays would make it difficult to pull out a win. But we did it! DDS won the game but we could of easily had more points than just 22. We were leading the whole game and late 4th quarter was when melrose started to press us defensively and catch up....a little too close for comfort! We were able to hold them off to get our first win in this second game of the season. All of the players hustled out there and played a great game. We are learning as a team to play with one another as each player contributes differently. Kai Stroud was again our high scorer with 10 points, Sean Gorwana added 8 points, Christian Marsullo ran the point guard position very well and added 4 points, Danielle Stamer was a rebounding force with 4 rebounds and added 2 points, Roan Gideon also added 2 points respectively. T.J, Jon Hill, Jackson Ryan and Ben Poholchuk, although they did not score hustled and contributed for our team defensively. The next 2 games we play we will face the same challenges of not yet having a practice to go over plays that we have forgotten...WISH US LUCK......
